In this article a 7 year old from the US survived a plane crashed. Not only did she survived the plane crash, but the young girl could walk 15 minutes from the woods barefooted at night to find a near by home and call 911. Even though shes been through those events she kept going to find help for her family. She was soon treated afterwards, but it's still surprising how a girl so young can be so resilient and strong at a time like that.

This article relates to the Lord of The flies because a group of young boys survived a plane crash without injures, but in this case she had a broken wrist. All the boys in the story have a survival mentality just like this girl. They do there best to help each other like how she tried to find help for her parents. In the story it relates to the girl's issue on how she's isolated and in the story a lot of the younger children have the feeling of isolation. It shows because in the text it talks about how the younger ones start crying for their moms and dads.

Civil War Causing Murder between Brothers

On June Evening, Dublin, Ireland, a Republican sniper killed his own brother without knowing. They were shooting at each other from rooftop to rooftop. One of them getting the final kill. Without realizing what he has done. The sniper's identity wasn't revealed. 

 This event happened when the brothers were on the rooftops looking for Free Staters. Due to confusion one of the brothers start shooting at each other after the position of the sniper was revealed due to him lighting a smoke.

Soon after the Free Staters realized where he was and the begun to fire at him. The sniper was very cautious and slowly picked off the enemies one by one. While in the process of doing this his brother shot him right in the arm causing pain in the forearm. Civilian Michael Adger states that he seen two people going at it from the rooftops. but was afraid due to the sound of death around his area. 

 While in pain the sniper thought of a way to the opposing sniper. He played a trick on the other sniper making it believable that he had died, but once the other sniper took the bait he was killed with a revolver. He was happy that he survived, but once he saw the face of the body his mood changed due to the fact that he realized he murder his own brother.

This event just goes to show what war is causing  in Ireland right now. Many civilians want the war to end, but from the look of it sadly that isn't happening anytime soon. The location of the surviving sniper is unknown, but many believe he's done enough for the war.

The social issue in my story is the government and how it's created by the group of young boys. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KOqk_q4NLLI This song is related to my story Lord of the Flies on how they create a government without adults and how their government works. Another point to add is that the kids in beginning of the story had two different people Ralph and Jack who wanted to be appointed leader, but in the end Ralph becomes the leader for the boys.

Retell,Reflect,Relate: The Boy in Striped Pyjamas

The Boy in Striped Pyjamas is about a 9 year old boy who is the son of a Nazi commander. Bruno and his family live in Germany and move to the country side of Germany due to his dad's work as the commander of a concentration camp. Bruno lives with his Mother,Father, and sister. When, Bruno was looking outside his window he noticed a camp with people wearing pyjamas. Bruno becomes curious about the concentration camp, but is forbidden by his father to go outside the walls of his house. Eventually, Bruno goes to the concentration camp and meets a young boy by the name of Shmuel who is the same age as him. Bruno is very unknowing of what the camp is really about and thinks that Shmuel is there because he wants to be. He also assumes it's a good place. Bruno and Shmuel become friends and play games from a barbed fence. Bruno asks why he's in there and then Shmuel tells him he is a Jew afterwards Bruno awkwardly walks away. A few days have passed and they are just playing games. One day one of the Jewish prisoners accidentally split wine on Lieutenant Kotler. Kotler then beats the Jewish man to death with the whole family hearing and seeing it. Soon, Bruno's mother argues with Bruno's father about what happened and tell him what they're doing to them isn't right. A few days later Shmuel becomes the new servant of the house, but when Shmuel was caught eating food Bruno gave him he was beaten. Bruno then loses Shmuel's trust, but Shmuel forgives him soon after. They go back to normal until Shmuel tells Bruno his father is missing. Bruno tells Shmuel that he promises him to help his father. One day Bruno goes home and his father calls upon Bruno and his sister telling them that they have to live somewhere else while he stays here. Bruno is now rushing to fulfill his promise. Bruno then brings a shovel and shovels his way under the fence. Shmuel then gives Bruno a change of clothes, so he fits in. They then begin to look bunker to bunker, but suddenly are being forced to move with many other prisoners. While they are being forced to move, Bruno's family are worried that they have lost him. They soon realized that he's been going to the concentration camp without permission. Bruno and Shmuel are put into a chamber where they think they're just getting a shower, but are actually in a gas chamber. Soon, Bruno, Shmuel, and a lot of other prisoners are put to death. Bruno's family are too late and they begin to feel depressed and sad due to the lost of Bruno.

This movie shows how not all German and Jewish people hated each other in World war 2. The movie was through the eyes of a young innocent boy who learned that Jewish people are bad. Even though he was told that he befriended a Jewish boy. Also, throughout the movie you can see how strict and brutal many of the Nazi were and how the concentration camps treated inmates. You can see how the two were different from a standpoint were Germans were living a good life during world war 2 and the Jewish had to fear for every second of it. This movie gave many different views of the war and shows how not all Germans were alike.

This movie shows form of inequality in a form of racism. There is racism in this movie due to the fact that many Jewish people were put into concentration camps just because they were Jewish. Jewish people were abused and used for many things such as becoming slaves for Nazi's and put to do physical labor. This can relate to the slavery of many African American people. This can also relate to those who have put down due to their religion or background for example since I come from an Asian family sometimes I get called names or stereotypes that are rude. Many Jewish people would have to face those problems on a daily basis.

Teaching Kids To Kill

Connections:  Connections you can get from this text is how children of this generation are known for playing video games they're not suppose to. For an example I have a nephew who is around the age of 7 who plays a lot of violent video games for his age and it can be shown. He likes to hit others and sometimes acts as if he has a gun and pretends to shoot at others. Many children are influenced by video games, but many children aren't like that. I played my fair share of violent video games as a child, but I think it mostly depends on if your parents raise you in a sense that you should know right from wrong.

Challenges: Challenges that I have thought of from the video and from the text is that you can't blame these people for the killing they have done. They were just victims due to the fact that these young children are impressionable for example Ishmael was young and was put to war due to the fact he was told that it was good. I believe that kids who murder aren't at fault here and the ones who are, are the adults who manipulate young children into doing certain things.

Concepts: The key concepts in this article and video is that you seen many people who have been used and abused for war. Many of which don't change their lifestyle, but in Ishmael's case you see what he has to endure to become what he is today a successful man. The writer Lt.Col. Dave Grossman was saying that many of the problems such as rape, mass murders, violence were due to media and the evolution of television and video games. 

Changes: The changes that should be made to the world is that there should be more censorship on video games and what can be put on the television. This is due to the fact that many children are influenced from what is seen on media. Media plays a big roll to the everyday lives of many people and should have better control. Also, we need to change the amount of children going into war and start educating many countries about this. Many children are put as risk daily for unnecessary wars and should be getting an education instead.

            The conflict known as the Philippine Insurrection or Philippine-American war started in 1899. In December 1898 the U.S bought Philippines for a sum of 20 million American dollars. This was after the Spanish-American War. The U.S tried to make Philippines an American colony, but the Filipinos were fighting for their independence since 1896 and declared independence on June 12. Soon on August 14, 11,000 troops were sent to occupy Philippines. After Emilio Aguinaldo was named the first president of Philippines. He then organized a congress in Malolos, Bulacan to draft a constitution.

 

            This is related to other text because of how countries came to be. For example how Canada started a confederation and had their first Prime Minster. How this relates to me is because I’m Filipino and my parents told me how Philippines came to be. Starting with how Philippines was named and how the first president was named. This is related to the world because it can show aspects to other countries on how to start an independence for many countries.
